If you know us, you know that Scandinavia is a favorite travel destination. Partly because Karl is a first-generation Swede but also, our daughter, Maggie, is currently living in Copenhagen working on her master’s degree at the Royal Danish Academy. (Can you tell she’s my daughter?) We try to visit her every chance we get — trips that make Karl particularly happy and keep our creative energies alive.
On our most recent visit, we checked into the Hotel Kong Arthur in Copenhagen. Every evening, at five o’clock, the lobby, patio or by the fireplace transforms to a buzzy little gathering spot, where something called Cozy Hour is hosted.

It didn't matter if you were a weary traveler, or a professional at a conference, or a regular guest in the hotel — everyone gathered for a glass of wine and a moment of genuine community. No fuss, just connection.
We fell in love with a good hotel lobby and the convivial nature of the Cozy Hour~
There’s a certain magic in that late-afternoon transition from the workday to the evening. We realized we didn't want to leave that feeling in Denmark. We wanted to bring it home to St. Paul.
So, we’re introducing our own Cozy Hour.
Consider this your invitation to explore Grand Avenue or settle in for a glass of wine in the garden. Whether you’re a longtime friend of Cooks or a neighbor we haven’t met yet, come share a glass with us.
The Details
- The Ritual: $2 pours of our favorite house wine.
- The Time: 5 – 6 PM | Monday through Saturday.
- The Vibe: No reservations, no registrations. Just community.
We’ve brought a little piece of Copenhagen back to the neighborhood, and we can't wait to share it with you.
See you in the garden~
