Rustic Roots Farm is a small family farm located near Alexandria, MN. Their mission — to balance sustainable natural resources with innovative growing techniques and traditional methods — is evident in the high-quality products they produce grown with regenerative, sustainable practices. They believe food should be grown responsibly and shared locally; building healthy soil, working with nature rather than against it, and caring for the land for the long term.
Specialty crops, including their award-winning hardneck garlic, are grown naturally without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Their farm began as a way to teach their family the values of independence, hard work, self-reliance, perseverance and creative thinking. All are involved in the day-to-day operations of the farm.
Our Garlic Scape Share
We love the low-key, high-quality flavor and subtle texture that Garlic Scapes add to our favorite recipes. They're the tender, curly, edible stalks and flower buds that grow from hardneck garlic plants in early summer, offering a milder, sweeter garlic-onion flavor than the bulb. They are highly nutritious (rich in vitamins C, K, B6, antioxidants) and are incredibly versatile — popular in pesto, stir-fries, savory tarts or sautéed as a fresh seasonal treat atop meats or fish.
